BDSM Terminology Explained(Abrasion Play/Anal Play/Ball Stretching/Aroma Play)

There are so many terms in BDSM that it can often be confusing so we thought it would be a good idea to explain some terms in a series of articles. As we grow, we will add more articles and expand on the terminology. We ask all our readers to comment below on any terms they would like explained further or to contribute. Please always remember that all play must be safe, sane, and consensual (SSC).

Abrasion Play

In BDSM play this would be explained as stimulating the surface of the body with abrasive materials such as rough silk, leather, sandpaper or brushes to mention a few.

Anal Play

This is generally play where the anus may be penetrated with either beads, ice, dildos, anal plugs, penis, or fist. Rimming the anus with a finger or toys stimulates the nerves which can create a more intense orgasm. Inserting and playing with one's prostrate gland (males) will cause increased orgasm.

Ball Stretching

Play which typically involves binding the penis and attaching weights in order to provide a variety of sensations including discomfort and pain, while stretching the testicles and scrotum.

Aroma Play

Play which involves the use of certain aromas or scents to induce relaxation or shock.. Also referred to as "poppers". In some instances these can be volatile compounds whose vapors cause temporarily increased heart and breathing rates, muscle relaxation, and a "rushing" feeling in the head. It can often just be as simple as using different perfumes or food you have around the house. Typically the receiver would be blindfolded and/or bound.
